Welcome Joel!

HI Design is under new stewardship. You knew that, right? Details here if you missed it. You’ll be relieved to learn that your events are in safe hands. Some of you will already know Joel Butler. He’ll be in Bahrain looking as calm and collected as one can reasonably be when you’ve got a new job and everyone’s looking…

A lot of you won’t know Joel yet, so we asked him for some words before he heads off to Bahrain. He’s looking forward to meeting you all so go and talk to him.

My first design event was the launch of the Surface Design Show London. Having delivered 4 shows I then launched the interiors section of Ecobuild. From the world of architecture I moved to the hotel design community with the small but perfectly-formed Sleep Event. Four Sleep’s later I am now packing for Bahrain.

Me and HI Design

I’ve been lucky enough to experience 3 HI Designs in a media partner capacity. These 3 editions; Dubrovnik, Lisbon and Split have all given unique and incredible memories whilst allowing me to establish great business relationships and friendships. I instantly loved the event’s format and the way the team are so welcoming from the minute you walk into the lobby until the last morning’s breakfast.

The HI Design Opportunity

Having worked in design exhibitions for 14 years I am looking forward to immersing myself in the more intimate, meeting-focused format of the design forum. And to be given the chance to represent the original and best event in its field was irresistible.

The ‘HI Design way’

Having known James, Jonathan, Sofi and Charlie from previous events and through working with Guy on Sleep I understand the HI Design way of looking after delegates, focusing on the details, careful curation, maximising their delegate’s value and of course having fun whilst doing it all. It’s also great to know that Andy and the team at DMG place so much emphasis and respect on these special HI Design values. I can’t wait to get started.
